You create a Filter Group by clicking the Add button in the Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > Filter Groups Setup page. On the Filter Group: New Filter Group page that displays, give the group a name and description, then click the Add button to add entries.

Each entry will consist of a MIME Type, Filter, and Filter Configuration. The Filter Group can be assigned to a directory as an AIS Property, in the Filter Configuration drop-down list of the Change Properties dialog.

Note: Filter Groups cannot be assigned at the asset level; they can only be assigned at the directory level.

When you have assigned a Filter Group to an AIS directory, when WorldServer segments an asset, it determines from this Filter Configuration AIS property whether the value is a Filter Group (as opposed to a valid Filter Configuration or no value at all). If the value is a Filter Group, the group is searched for an entry that contains the MIME type for the asset. If it finds that MIME type, the associated filter and filter configuration in that entry are used for the segmentation.
