The term viewer has three main sections.
The View Term page allows you to view, add, or change term entry information. Depending on your permissions, you see various buttons in this page that allow you to perform different functions. The following figure shows what the page looks like to a user with full permissions. For details of how permissions affect this page, see the "Terminology Database Security" topic.

Proposing an Entry Change
  1. In the View Term page, click the term entry's Propose Entry Change button.
  2. In the Term Database - Propose Entry Change page, enter comments as needed.
Note: If you have only "propose" permission, you can only enter comments. If you have full permission, you can change the status of terms as well.
  3. Click Propose to submit your entry change proposal.
Editing the Term Entry
If you have sufficient permissions, you can edit a term entry's attributes and status from within the View Term page.
  1. In the View Term page, click the Edit Entry button at the top of the entry section.
  2. In the Term Database - Edit Entry page, make your desired changes to the attributes and status. Be sure to fill in all required attributes (marked with red asterisks).
  3. Click on Save or Cancel.
Proposing a Term Change
  1. In the View Term page, click the Propose Term Change button.
  2. In the Term Database - Propose Term Change, make your changes to the term, its attributes and its administrative status.
  3. Click Propose.
Your proposal is submitted for processing by the administrator. However, if you have changed the term and it is a previously submitted (and possibly rejected) term, WorldServer warns you with an informative message. You will see previously proposed terms (with their current processing status: Proposed, Rejected) as hyperlinks in the message.
  4. If you are warned of a previously submitted term, review the message and decide what to do.
Follow the links to see descriptions of previously submitted terms, since the information may help you decide whether to proceed. A rejected term will likely contain a note explaining the reason for its rejection. Your proposed term may be in the system already and submission at this point will introduce a redundancy. Or the previously submitted term may be a homograph conceptually unrelated to the term you are submitting.
    • If you decide to abandon the submission, click Cancel.
    • If you decide to submit the term anyway, click Propose.
Editing a Term
If you have sufficient permissions, you can edit a term or its attributes from within the View Term page.
  1. In the View Term page, select the term you want to edit by clicking its link in the entry terms section.
  2. Click the Edit button.
  3. Make your desired changes to the term name, its status, and its attributes. Be sure to fill in all required attributes (marked with red asterisks).
  4. Click Save.
Proposing a New Term
  1. In the View Term page, click the Propose Term button.
  2. In the Term Database - Propose Term Change term proposal page, fill out the details of the term, including its attributes and suggested administrative status, if any.

Adding a Term
If you have sufficient permissions, you can add a new term from the View Term page.
  1. In the View Term page, click Add Term.
  2. Fill in the details for the new term.
  3. Click Save.
Adding an Entry
A term entry consists of one or more associated terms and a set of term entry-level attributes.
Note: If you have sufficient permissions, you can create a new term entry from the main TD management page. If you lack such permissions, instead of an Add Entry button, you may see a Propose Entry button that lets you submit unapproved terms.
  1. At the TD management page, click Add Entry.
  2. Fill in term entry attributes values as desired and at least one term.
The Reset button on the term editor will blank the term editor. The Save Term button commits changes to the term section (provided all the required fields are filled in, including term), adds the new term to the Entry Terms section and puts a blank term editor back in place. The Delete button deletes checked terms.
  3. If you are entering multiple terms, you can select terms in the Entry Terms section. This allows you to edit the terms you just added. Clicking a term in the Entry Terms section effectively executes commit on the new term or term edits and loads the term editor for the term that was clicked.
  4. Click Save Entry.
