Most users access SDL Studio GroupShare by using a client application such as Studio or MultiTerm. In such cases, when you first try to connect to a translation memory or termbase, the client application displays the GroupShare logon screen.
As an administrator or project manager, you need to access GroupShare directly, to manage the resources, such as TMs and termbases, and to manage users and organizations. In this case, you are prompted to log on from the browser.
To log on directly to GroupShare you need:
A web browser, for example:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, or higher
Mozilla Firefox 3.0, or higher
The name of the SDL Studio GroupShare web server.
A username and password. The username needs to be an account that is set up in GroupShare.
A GroupShare administrator can allow a user to log on with a Windows username and password. This has the advantage that the user does not need to remember two usernames and passwords.
Sometimes an administrator will want a user from outside the company to access GroupShare. Usually in such cases, the administrator does not want to give the user a Windows user account, and so will create a GroupShare account, and the user will log on with SDL authentication.
