Standard Roles and Permissions
A role is a collection of permissions. As an administrator, you give roles to users so that the users can use GroupShare to carry out their job functions.
Standard roles
GroupShare is built with some standard roles, which correspond to the most common jobs that users do. These are as follows:
- Administrator
- An administrator of a organization or resource library in GroupShare needs unrestricted access
within that scope. Hence the administrator role grants all permissions
(within the scope of the user).
The built-in user account, System Administrator, has an Administrator role in all organizations and resource libraries.
- Translator
- Usually, a translator updates TMs, but cannot create TMs or change
the structure of a TM.
A translator cannot change organization or user details.
- Power User
- Typically, the application expert and local administrator.
- Guest
- Can read some details.
- Project manager
- A project manager needs to do what a translator does, and also has more power to manage projects and change translation memories.
The following table shows these roles, and the permissions that are given to them. The system administrator role is built-in and always has all permissions, but you can change or delete the other roles.
