TM General Properties (Including Recognize Settings)

The Translation memory> General Properties tab includes the 'Recognize' settings for a TM.

These settings divide naturally into two groups:

  • Enable concordance search

  • The remaining check boxes. These enable or disable recognized tokens.

Enable character-based concordance search

Normally, for non-alphabetic writing systems, you need to enable character-based concordance searches.

For alphabetic writing systems, be aware of the size implications. For alphabetic writing systems, character-based concordance searching adds about 8 KB per TU. Normally you would not enable this feature if you have more than one TM with more than 100 000 TUs. Usually, therefore, you do not have character-based concordance searching on server-based TMs.

Enable target language concordance

Select this to enable concordance searches of target text.

If you enable this option, SDL Studio GroupShare indexes the TM target language segments. (Source language segments are always indexed.)
