Fields hold supplementary data for each translation unit (TU) in a TM.
You usually modify change fields by changing the field template.
GroupShare maintains a number of system fields for each TU, such as:
Created by and creation date
Modified by and modification date
Last used by and last used date
For example, when you edit a TM entry, GroupShare automatically updates the value of the fields modified by and modification date.
The value of custom fields is set by a user, for each TU.
You can add your own custom fields to a field template. To create or edit a custom field, click Create or Edit in the Fields tab.
In the client (SDL Trados Studio), view or change the values of user maintained fields in the TM Editor. Use the Fields and settings dialog box under the TM settings.
You can change the value of a field across multiple TUs in a TM by using GroupShare batch edit functions.
You can display field values, and you can filter TUs by their field values, for example to find all TUs that were created after a certain date.
You also add penalties to TUs, based on their field values.
