Resources Add/Edit Screen

This help topic covers both the Resources/Add and the Resources/Edit screens. These screens are used to manage both reference files and resource files. From here you can:

Broker scripts and any files referenced by broker scripts (style sheets for example) must be uploaded to SDL TMS using the Resources/Add screen.

How to Display the Resources/Add Screen

Click the Add Resource button on the Reference Material screen or the Resources screen.

How to Display the Resources/Edit Screen

Click a resource or reference file name on the Reference Material screen or the Resources screen.

How to Add a New Resource/Reference File

  1. Display the Resources/Add screen. The screen description above describes the boxes on this screen.

  2. Add a meaningful name and description for the resource.

  3. If you do not want this resource to be available to sub-organizations, select the Private check box.

  4. Click the Browse button in the Filename box. The Choose File dialog box is displayed.

  5. Select the file to be uploaded and click Open.

  6. Select a Group and Type.

  7. Click Submit. The selected file is uploaded. When the upload is complete the resource file details are re-displayed on the Resources/Edit screen.

  8. If you want to change the MIME type, make the change and click Submit.

How to Edit a Resource/Reference File

You can edit all reference files and all resource files, including system default resource files.

Edit a System-default Resource File

System default resource files must be downloaded and edited outside SDL TMS. The edited version of the resource must then be uploaded again.

Edit a Locally Created Resource or Reference File

To edit a locally created resource file, simply edit the original (locally held) version of the file and upload this on the Resources/Edit screen. The uploaded version will overwrite the version held in SDL TMS.

If you no longer have the original, you can download a copy of the file from SDL TMS, edit this and then upload it again.

 

NOTE

The two files must have the same name.

How to Download a Resource/Reference File

  1. Display the resource/reference file on the Resources/Edit screen.

  2. Click download_up.gifDownload. A zip file containing the file is created. If the file is particularly large this may take some time.

  1. When the zip file has been created, click the zip file name link. The File Download dialog box is displayed.

  2. Click the Save button. The Save As dialog box is displayed.

  3. Navigate to the folder where you want the file to be placed and click Save. The file is downloaded.

How to Upload a Resource/Reference File

This procedure describes how to upload a new version of an existing resource or reference file.

  1. Display the resource/reference file on the Resources/Edit screen.

  2. Click Upload. Some fields are removed from the screen.

  3. Click the Browse button in the Filename box. The Choose File dialog box is displayed.

  4. Select the file to be uploaded and click Open.

  5. Make any other changes that are required and click submit.gifSubmit. The file is uploaded. The upload progress is displayed at the top of the screen.

NOTE

If you exit the screen before the upload is complete the upload will be cancelled.

Display the resource/reference file on the Resources/Edit screen.

Display the resource/reference file on the Resources/Edit screen and click preview.gifPreview.
