A language resource template holds a set of language resources that have been modified to meet the needs of your organization. You can select the template when you create a new translation memory to apply the settings stored in the template to the translation memory.
There is a default set of language resources. If the default language resources meet your needs, there is no need to create a language resource template.
File-based language resource templates are created and maintained in the Translation Memories view.
|
NOTE |
If you base the structure of new translation memories on an existing translation memory, the language resource settings in the existing translation memory are copied to the new translation memory. |
When you create a new file-based language resource template, the default language resource settings are automatically copied to the template where you can edit or delete them. You can also create new rules and add these to the template. You can create a single language resource template that contains settings for all of the languages you work with.
When you create a language resource template, it is added to the Language Resource Templates branch of the navigation tree in the Translation Memories view. This is where you select the template for editing.
|
NOTE |
If you want to create server-based language resources templates that you can selected when creating a server-based translation memory, you must use TM Server which is part of SDL GroupShare. For more information about SDL GroupShare, see the SDL Studio GroupShare Help. |
You can edit the settings in a language resource template at any time. When you edit a language resource template:
If you edit a file-based language resource template in SDL Trados Studio, language settings in local (file-based) translation memories created using the template are not updated with the changes.
If you edit a server-based language resource template in TM Server, language settings in server-based translation memories created using the template are updated to match the changes made to the template. However, if you edit the language settings in a server-based translation memory, the translation memory is disconnected from the template and changes to the template are not applied to the translation memory.
