An AutoText entry is text that you can directly enter yourself to use in AutoSuggest. They are based on the target language. An example would be a standard copyright text or a disclaimer. AutoText entries must be five or more characters in order for them to be offered as suggestions in AutoSuggest.

How to Add an AutoText Entry in the Options Dialog Box
Select Tools > Options.
Select AutoSuggest > AutoText from the navigation tree.
Select the language into which you want to enter the AutoText entry from the Target Language drop-down list. This is the target language you are translating into.
Type your AutoText entry in the AutoText entries box.
Click Add to add your AutoText entry.
Click OK to save the settings and to close the Options dialog box.
The added entry will now be in the list of suggestions that is displayed when you type the beginning of a term or phrase with the same initial characters in the Editor window.
Select the word or phrase in the Editor window that you want to add to AutoText and press Alt+F7. The Add AutoText Entry dialog box is displayed.

Your selected word or phrase is displayed in the first box in the dialog box. If you want to make any changes to the text prior to adding it as an AutoText entry, you can do that in this box.
Click Add to add the entry to the list below.
Click OK to close the dialog box and return to the Editor window.
The added entry will now be in the list of suggestions that is displayed when you type the beginning of a term or phrase with the same initial characters in the Editor window.
A list of AutoText entries can be imported from an *.autotxt file. Importing entries allows you use a list created by someone else who is using the AutoSuggest feature in SDL Trados Studio. They can export the list and then you can import the file into your SDL Trados Studio version.
Select Tools > Options.
Select AutoSuggest > AutoText from the navigation tree.
Select the language into which you want to import the AutoText entries from the Target Language drop-down list. This is the target language you are translating into.
Click Import. The Import AutoText dialog box is displayed.
Locate the *.autotxt file and click Open. The AutoText entries from the imported file are now displayed in the AutoText entries list.
Click OK to save the settings and to close the Options dialog box.
The added entries will now be in the list of suggestions that is displayed when you type the beginning of a term or phrase with the same initial characters in the Editor window.
