The ribbon is the navigation bar displayed across the main window which shows the SLD Trados Studio commands and controls. The ribbon is designed to help you easily find the commands you need to complete tasks. All the commands are organized in logical groups, which are joined together under tabs. Each tab relates to a type of activity, such as reviewing or translating.
The ribbon can be customized with new tabs and groups that contain the user's favorite commands. You can also choose what commands are displayed in the quick access toolbar.
The image below shows the Studio ribbon and explains its main components:
The ribbon automatically adjusts to your current context in order to show you the right commands when you need them. The commands that are not appropriate for your current context are hidden in order to reduce clutter and maximize your working space real estate.
The Home, View, Add-Ins and Help tabs are permanent tabs and stay on the ribbon regardless of what you are doing in Studio. However, the groups that these permanent tabs contain are context-sensitive and vary depending on the view you are in. For example, the Home tab shows the most frequently used commands for working with reports when the Reports view is active. In contrast, if the Projects view is active, the groups inside the Home tab show only the most frequently used groups for working with projects.
The Review and Advanced tabs are contextual tabs and appear on the ribbon only when you are in the Editor view. This is because you would not normally need them when working in any other view.
You cannot delete or replace the ribbon with the toolbars and menus from the earlier versions of Studio. However, you can minimize the ribbon in order to maximize your workspace real estate.
To minimize the ribbon, press theminimize
arrow on the top right-hand corner of the application or select Minimize the Ribbon from
the
Quick Access Toolbar drop-down menu.

Some groups give access to additional group-related functionality. For example, the Translation Memory group in the Editor view launches the Options dialog box on the Translation Results page which enables you to quickly change the way that Studio displays TM results. From here you can navigate to other TM options, like the Translation Memory and Automated Translation Window, where you can apply a different TM to your files and change other TM settings.
To open group-related options, click thedialog
box launcher at the bottom of groups which have extra functionality
available.
