This topic describes how to preview your translation for the active document in the Editor view. You can preview an active document in the Preview window in the Editor view or in the application in which it was originally created. Previewing the document allows you to look at how the text will appear when you generate the translated document. You may also want to preview the document in the application in which it was originally created if SDL Trados Studio does not have a file filter available to preview the document in the Preview window in Studio.
In the Editor view, display the Preview window:
By default, the Preview
tab appears on the top right corner of the Editor
view. Click the Preview tab to display the window.
If there is no Preview
tab on the top right corner of the Editor
view, select View tab > Preview.
Select Preview or Real-time Preview from the View drop-down list in the Preview window.
Click the Click here to generate initial preview link to display the preview for the currently selected tab or click on a different tab to view a different type of preview and the preview is automatically generated.
Depending on how you chose to preview the document from the View drop-down list, the following actions can now be performed. If you selected:
Preview, click the Refresh button every time you want to see an updated preview.
Real-time Preview, confirm a segment and the preview is automatically updated.
NOTE |
|
Select File > Print & View > View In.
From the options that are displayed, select one of the following:
[Application Name] as Source - Select this to open and preview the original source language version of the active document in the application specified.

[Application Name] as Target - Select this to open and preview the translated target language version of the active document in the application specified.
NOTE |
The applications available to preview the document depend on what settings are specified in your file filters and what applications are installed on your machine. |
