How to Insert Tags Using QuickPlace

This topic describes how to insert tags by selecting them from the list in the QuickPlace dialog box. The list contains all tags that appear in the source segment; Opening and closing tags of tag pairs are listed separately; this means that as you are typing, you can insert the opening tag at the point where you want text formatting to begin and the closing tag at the point where you want the formatting to end.

Placeholder tags also appear in the dialog box and are selected in the same way as formatting tags.

NOTE

By default, SDL Trados Studio settings specify that recognized formatting tags are hidden, therefore tags remain hidden when inserted and instead the text is formatted in the style used in the Editor window.

To insert tags using QuickPlace:

  1. In the Editor window, when the cursor is at the point where you want to insert a tag, right-click and select QuickPlace from the shortcut menu. A list of tags is displayed in the QuickPlace dialog box.

  2. The first tag is selected automatically.

  1. Continue typing. The selected tag formatting is applied to the text.

  2. When you want the formatting to stop being applied, right-click and select QuickPlace from the shortcut menu. The QuickPlace dialog box is displayed. Select the closing tag click OK to insert it into the document.
