QuickInsert Toolbar

Use the QuickInsert toolbar during translation to quickly insert special characters or formatting tags into a into the target segments in the Editor window.

The QuickInsert toolbar is displayed in the Editor view.

The toolbar contains standard buttons for special characters and for formatting. You can also add customized buttons to the toolbar.

Standard Buttons for Formatting

The toolbar contains standard buttons for formatting, for example, to apply bold formatting. Some buttons may not be available for some file types.

To use these buttons, do one of the following:

NOTE

 

  • By default, when formatting tags are inserted, the text is formatted in the style specified by the tags, but the tags themselves are hidden.

  • To remove any of the formatting below, click corresponding button with the red line. For example, to remove bold formatting click:  unbold.jpg.

You can customize the buttons so that they apply different formatting.

Shortcut command: Ctrl+B

NOTE

You can apply bold formatting to most file types. However the tags used to indicate bold differ between file types.

Subscript.jpg

Subscript Formatting

Subscript formatting makes text appear smaller than the normal line text and is set slightly below the text.

Superscript formatting makes text appear smaller than the normal line text and is set slightly above the text.

Left to Right Formatting

This button is useful for inserting Western words into bidirectional text.

Standard Buttons for Special Characters

The toolbar contains standard buttons for some special characters, for example, the Trade Mark symbol, ™ . Some buttons may not be available for some file types.

To insert a special character, click a special character button. The character is inserted in the target segment at the cursor position.

You can change the characters associated with these buttons.

A soft break is a break at the end of a line or a page. The location of a soft break adjusts automatically with a change in the margins, line length or the number of lines.

Other Buttons

Button

Description

custom_tag.jpg

This is a custom button.

Keep the cursor over the button to display the tool tip associated with the button.

You can have any number of custom buttons, but the QuickInsert toolbar only displays the first ten.

To access the remaining custom buttons, click QT_list.jpg.

QuickInsert Settings

Click to edit the QuickInsert settings for the file type settings of the active document. This allows you to edit and add which buttons are displayed on the QuickInsert toolbar. The Project Settings dialog box is displayed.

This button displays the Insert Tag dialog box, which lists all QuickInsert buttons.

You can apply a QuickInsert button from the list.

If the current file type does not support a formatting type, the corresponding button is displayed but is unavailable.
