XML Example Adding a QuickInsert Custom Button

This example shows how to change the QuickInsert group so that you can quickly add emphasis tags to text to make the text bold. The sample file includes an inline tag, emphasis that you can use to follow along with this example.

1. Click File > Options.

2. In the File Types tree, select your XML file type and open the QuickInsert page.

3. Click Add... to display the Add QuickInsert dialog box:
   1. In the Name box, type Emphasis.
   2. In the Description box, type Bold. This description is used for the tooltip.
   3. In the Type box, select Tag pair.
   4. In the Element box, select emphasis.
   5. In the Formatting box, click Edit and select Activate from the Bold box.
4. Select Display in Group.
5. Click OK until all dialog boxes are closed.
6. Return to your open file in the Editor. Select some text in the target segment and then click the new button in the QuickInsert group. The selected text is formatted in bold and depending on your tag display settings, it is also surrounded by an <emphasis> </emphasis> tag pair.
   Note: To display the new button in the group, you may need to close the open document and then open it again. If you still cannot see your button, it may be due to lack of space in the group, click to select the button and apply the formatting from the list of QuickInsert buttons.
