How the Find Keyboard Shortcut Keys Work

You can use keyboard shortcuts for finding text in the Editor view and the Translation Memories view. These keyboard shortcuts are only available if the Editor window is the active window or If you close the Find and Replace dialog box. If you are using keyboard shortcuts they function in the following ways:

NOTE

If no search has been run during the current session, the Find Next and Find Previous keyboard shortcuts will be unavailable.

Find Next Keyboard Shortcut

  • Press F4 to find the next instance of your search text entered in the Find and Replace dialog box during the current session.
  • Find Next always searches down the document, regardless of the Search up option.

Find Previous Keyboard Shortcut

  • Press Shift+F4 to find a previous instance of your search text entered in the Find and Replace dialog box during the current session.

  • Find Previous always searches up the document, regardless of the Search up option .

Searching a Selection

If you are searching in a selection, the behavior is slightly different. As long as the user does not manually move the cursor:

  • If Search up is selected, Find Previous will terminate at the end of the initial selection. Find Next will restart the search in the entire document as opposed to the selection.
  • If Search up is not selected, Find Next will terminate at the end of the initial selection. Find Previous will restart the search in the entire document as opposed to the selection.
