Translation memory data is managed in the Translation Memories view. All translation memories that are currently available for editing appear in the navigation tree in the Translation Memories view. To add a translation memory to the navigation tree, use the Open command.
When you close and then reopen SDL Trados Studio, the translation memories that were available in this view when you closed the application, will automatically be added to the view when you reopen the application. If any of the translation memories are server-based, you will be asked to provide your user credential details.
To edit the contents of a translation memory, you have to open the translation memory in the TM side-by-side editor window. Each translation memory appears as a separate document in the window; to switch between documents, click the translation memory's name tab. You can have several translation memories open for editing but you cannot edit multiple translation memories at the same time. Only the active translation memory can be updated.
The translation memory maintenance tools available in SDL Trados Studio enable you to:
View translation units and their associated fields (custom and system). You can use a filter to exclude unwanted translation units from the view.
Search for particular translation units. You can use filters to refine the search.
Edit and delete translation units.
Assign values to custom fields or update existing field values.
Import and export translation units.
Import and export filters.
Use batch tools to edit or delete multiple translation units simultaneously.
Translation units are retrieved and displayed in batches; each batch is referred to as a page. The size of the page is determined by a setting in the Options dialog box on the Translation Memories View page. You can increase or decrease this setting.
To move up and down the page, use the scroll bar. To move from one page to the next, use the page navigation options on the Home tab > Navigation group >First Page/ Previous Page Next Page. You cannot move from the current page until you have either committed or canceled all of the changes you have made on the page.
