How to Show/Hide Whitespace Characters in the Translation Memories View

This topic describes how to toggle on and off the display of whitespace characters in the TM side-by-side editor window in the Translation Memories view. By default whitespace characters appear as blank spaces in translation memory text. However, you can choose to display them as symbols if you prefer.

To show/hide whitespace characters:

  1. Select File > Options. The Options dialog box is displayed.

  2. Select Translation Memories View from the navigation tree. The Translation Memories View settings are displayed on the right.

  3. Select if you want to show to hide the whitespace characters:

  4. If you want to display whitespace characters as symbols, select the Show whitespace characters check box.

  5. If you want to stop displaying whitespace characters, clear the selection from the Show whitespace characters check box.

  1. Click OK to save the settings and close the Options dialog box.

You can also toggle whitespace characters on/off by clicking s button in the Editor view >  Home tab > Formatting group > Show Whitespace Characters. Click here to see a list of the whitespace symbols.
