Server Upgrade Wizard > User Management Upgrade Approach

In SDL MultiTerm 2009, MultiTerm stores user account details in the SDL Common User Management store. Each user has a single account here but the same account can be used by all SDL products.

On this page of the wizard decide what you want to do if there is a user name conflict during the upgrade. This happens when a user's user name in MultiTerm Server 2007 already exists in MultiTerm Server 2009 SP3. For example, if you ware upgrading John Smith's account which has a user name of jsmith but jsmith already exists in MultiTerm Server 2009 SP3.

Box

Description

Automatically map MultiTerm Legacy User to an already existing SDL User if the user name is the same.

Select this option if you want the wizard to automatically merge upgraded accounts with existing accounts with the same user name on MultiTerm 2009 SP3 server. In this case, the John Smith account in MultiTerm Server 2009 SP3 is updated with account information from the MultiTerm Server 2007 John Smith account.

Resolve manually identical user names.

Select this if you want to manually choose when accounts in MultiTerm Server 2009 SP3 are updated with MultiTerm Server 2007 user information or a new account is created. In this case, you can choose if you want the John Smith account in MultiTerm Server 2009 SP3 to be updated with account information from the MultiTerm Server 2007 John Smith account or if you want to create a new account for the MultiTerm Server 2007 John Smith with a prefix added to the user name, such as legacy_jsmith.
