  1. If you clicked Custom Upgrade, the Output Translation Memories page is displayed. You can select how the translation memories are created by selecting one of the following:

Option

Description

Create output translation memory for each input translation memory

When this option is selected, an SDL Trados Studio translation memory is created for each translation memory and *.tmx file that was added on the Input Translation Memories page.

Create output translation memory for each language pair

When this option is selected, an SDL Trados Studio translation memory is created for each language pair that exists in the translation memories and *.tmx files that were added on the Input Translation Memories page.

Custom

When this option is selected, additional options are displayed where you can customize how the SDL Trados Studio translation memories are created:

  1. Click Next. The Output Translation Memories Settings page is displayed.

  2. Complete the Output Translation Memories Settings page. Select the translation memory for which you want to define settings from the Output Translation Memories box and specify your settings for the following tabs:

  3. Click the Location tab. Specify if you want the upgraded translation memory to be file-based or server-based.

NOTE

If you selected multiple language pairs to be in the new upgraded translation memory, then you can only create a server-based translation memory. Server-based translation memories are multilingual and can contain multiple language pairs while file-based translation memories are only bilingual.

  1. Click the Settings tab. If you are upgrading more than one translation memory and they have different language variants, select which language variant you want the new upgraded translation memory to have. You can also enter a description and modify your recognition settings.

  2. Click the Language Pairs tab - The list of language pairs in the selected translation memory is displayed. If It Is a server-based translation memory, it can contain multiple language pairs.

  1. Click the Compatibility tab. Specify what data associated with the translation unit is removed or retained in your translation memory in order to optimize the leverage from your new upgraded translation memory.

  2. Click the Fields tab. The existing custom fields from the translation memories you are upgrading from are listed here. Delete or modify the custom fields as needed.

  3. Click the Language Resources tab. Your input translation memories are scanned and any segmentation rules are copied. Depending on the type of translation memory or TMX file you are upgrading some or all of the segmentation rules can be upgraded. You can also choose to select the default language resources in SDL Trados Studio instead of upgrading your segmentation rules.

  1. Click Finish when you are ready to start the upgrade process. The Upgrading Translation Memories page is displayed.

  2. You can now do the following:

  3. Click the Details link to display the Import Results dialog box which contains statistics about what translation units were imported.

  4. Click the Open link to open the translation memory in the Translation Memories view to view the imported data.
