View Scoping Information
You can determine how many words are in a particular project, and how much translation will cost, based on a selected cost model.
To scope a project
  1. In the Project view, choose a project.
  2. In the task list of the project, choose a task for which to view scoping information.
  3. Click View scoping information.
    WorldServer displays the following scoping information:
    Property
    Description
    Scoping Configuration
    The scoping configuration applied to this project scoping.
    Cost Model
    The cost model associated with the scoping configuration, if applicable. You must have individual or group permissions to view the cost model.
    Total Based on Price per Word
    The cost of the translation of the project based solely on the application of the scoping configuration and the cost model.
    Manual Adjustment
    The Manual Adjustment field is for adding ad hoc charges or discounts. Clicking Recalculate Grand Total regenerates the value for Grand Total.
    Grand Total
    The total cost of the translation based on the application of the scoping configuration and the cost model and any ad hoc charges or discounts applied in the Manual Adjustment field.
    Vendor’s Notes
    A text field that allows the vendor to save comments for future reference.
    Customer’s Notes
    A text field that allows the customer to save comments for future reference.
    Number of Word in each Match Range per Asset table
    The table displays the charges based on price-per-word at different match ranges, and the line items, based on the applied scoping configuration and cost model. The table also displays the number of words in each translation memory match category. The MT Fuzzy Words column indicates the number of words where the best translation came from machine translation (rather than translation memory). This can help you understand the benefit that you are getting from machine translation.
    Note: Line items are charges that are in addition to the translation cost, based on price-per-word (specified in Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > Cost Model Setup > Cost Models ). Examples of line items are project management fees and localization cost. Line items can also be discounts, such as a project discount based on the total cost of the projects.
  4. You can choose to download the resulting cost model evaluation (minus any additional charges and discounts) as a comma-separated values (CSV) file that you can open in Microsoft Excel, by clicking Download as CSV file and saving to a local directory.
    Note:
    A property in general.properties—csv_encoding—governs the encoding WorldServer uses for writing Unicode characters while exporting scoping reports in CSV format. When a CSV file is opened in Excel, the text will render properly only if it uses the encoding that Excel expects. For example, on Japanese Windows, Excel assumes CSV files will be encoded using Windows-932. To enable this behavior, have your WorldServer administrator open general.properties and remove the comment from the following line:
    # csv_encoding=Windows-932
    Additionally, comment out the line:
    csv_encoding=utf-8
  5. Click OK.
