Proposing a TD Entry
The Term Database - Propose New Entry page, accessed from the Propose Entry button on the Tools > Term Databases > Term Database: <TD> page, allows users who only have proposal permissions to propose TD entries.
Note: The Term Database - Add New Entry page, accessed from the Add Entry button, is for users with full privileges. You would use Add Entry under normal circumstances if you have sufficient permissions.
A proposal is a change or addition to a current term database that does not take effect immediately. It awaits processing by someone with sufficient privilege, who approves or rejects the proposal. A new term entry may contain one or more terms—a bundle of new terms that get approved individually.
You use the mandatory Proposal Comment attribute to justify the proposal. You can also use this field to make suggestions or comments concerning the term entry or term. In a workflow, this attribute holds any discussions between workflow participants (subject matter experts, proposer, terminologists, and so on) concerning this attribute. Each new proposal gets a new proposal comment rather than an accumulation of previous comments. When not editing a proposal, you can view the proposal comment by expanding the term or term entry's history field.
To propose a terminology database entry
Tools > Term Databases > Term Database: <TD>
  1. Click Propose Entry.
  2. In the Term Database - Propose New Entry dialog, enter a comment describing the proposed term in the Proposal Comment field.
  3. Fill in any custom TD Entry attributes.
  4. Define an initial term for this entry by doing the following:
    1. Enter the term name.
    2. Select the language of the term.
    3. Select an administrative status from the Status drop-down.
    4. Click Save Term.
When you click Save Term, the term you have proposed gets moved down to the term list at the bottom of the page and the term proposal section becomes cleared to use for another term proposal. Whatever administrative status you selected from the Status drop-down for a term is given, along with a Proposed processing status.
The Reset button in this section clears any changes you have made on the current term you are proposing. It does not affect terms you have already saved and which are now at the bottom of the page.
Note: You can select terms in the entry terms section in order to edit them. When you click a term in the entry terms section, WorldServer commits the term you are currently working on and opens the term you clicked on in the term editor section. You can make you edits and save that term again, then reopen the term you were working on before you clicked on the term in the committed terms list at the bottom.
  5. After you have proposed all of the terms you want, click Save Entry to commit your proposal to the terminology database. The window disappears.
The entry proposal can now be found in the Tools > Term Databases > Term Database: <TD> page, where a user with sufficient permissions can open and validate it, either activating, deactivating, or rejecting it.
