Placeholders appear in segments with markup that have translatable content. The translatable text appears as text in the segment, and the markup appears as bracketed numbers in the segment. All placeholders that are in the source of the segment must appear in the target of the segment. You translate the text that appears in the segment, placing it in the appropriate place in relation to the placeholders.

You can view the content of a segment's placeholders by clicking the Show Placeholders icon to the right of the segment.
