Severities are custom metrics that reviewers can use to measure the importance of any translation-related issues that they find in a document. For example, you can create the following severity levels for your categories: Critical, Major and Minor. Severity levels are available for each type of issue that you created on the Categories page. You will assign penalty points to each category's severity level in the Translation Quality Assessment > Scoring page.
As reviewers label translation mistakes using your categories and severities, Studio computes the penalty points attached to each category. The result is compared against the maximum admitted score that you define at the Pass/Fail Threshold on the Scoring page to determine if the translation meets your quality criteria.
