How to Open and Work with a GroupShare Project

To work with a GroupShare server-based project from the Project Server component of SDL GroupShare, you need to open it in Studio. This will allow you to view the progress of the project, translate and review files in the project, perform any batch tasks and create project packages. You must have permissions to be able to open the project and perform any of these actions.

The files that belong to the task you are performing have to be checked out from the GroupShare server. Once you have completed the task, the files then have to be checked back into the server.

  1. In the Projects view, go to Home tab > GroupShare group > open_GrpupShare.png Open Project. Follow the on-screen instructions to open a GroupShare project.

NOTE

By default, completed projects and projects you have already opened are not listed.

  1. Perform a task:

  • If you open a file for translation, review or sign-off, you are prompted to check out the file from the server.

  • If you run a batch task or create a package, the files are automatically checked out from the server.

  1. When you have completed the task, switch to the Files view and right-click on the file that you have just edited and then select Check in from the shortcut menu.
