When you encrypt a termbase the format of the data is changed from plain-text to an encrypted form.
SDL MultiTerm can read the encrypted text and displays termbase data as plain text in the Terms view. This means that encryption does not affect SDL MultiTerm users.
However, before you encrypt a termbase you need to think about the following:
Encrypted termbases cannot be reverted to plain text format.
Data exported from an encrypted termbase cannot be used in non SDL MultiTerm applications.
An administrator would no longer be able to make SQL queries on the termbase outside SDL MultiTerm as the termbase would no longer be in a plain text format.

When you encrypt a termbase, it will also be reorganized. |
Open the Catalog view.
Select Termbase > Reorganize from the menu.
Select Encrypt Entries.
See Read-Only Termbases for details about this option.
If you want the termbase to be unreadable after a certain time, select an Expiry date.
Click OK.
