This topic describes how to open an SDLXLIFF file for translation. You can open files from the Files view if you are working with files in a project or by using the Open Document command in any view if you are working with a single file.
NOTE |
If you received your files in a package for translation, you must first open the package before you can open the files for translation. |
To open a file for translation from a project:
Click the Files button in the navigation pane. All of the files in the active project are displayed in the Files view.
In the box at the top of the Files view navigation pane, select the required target language. Project files for the target language are displayed on the right.
Right-click the file and select Open for Translation from the shortcut menu. (you will notice that the files have been converted to SDLXLIFF format). The file opens in the Editor view. Project translation memories, AutoSuggest dictionaries and termbases are automatically opened in the Editor view.
To open a file using Open Document:
Select File > Open > Document from the menu bar. The Open Document dialog box is displayed.
Navigate to the project folder containing the SDLXLIFF file, select the file and click Open. The Open Document dialog box is displayed.
If the Select Project File dialog box is displayed, an SDLXLIFF file has already been created for this document. To create a new translation, select Create New Project File and click OK. The Open Document dialog box is displayed.
The SDLXLIFF file opens in the Editor window ready for translation. Default translation memories and termbases are automatically opened in the Editor view.
