If you want to create the new translation memory from scratch, leave this box blank.

Translation memory name. This is also used as the file name. This should be a unique name.

It is useful if the name contains an indicator of the languages it contains.

To add a copyright statement to the translation memory, add the copyright text here. For example, if you are creating a translation memory that will be used by someone outside your organization you may want to add some copyright text.

The copyright can be viewed in the Translation Memory Settings dialog box.

This is where the new translation memory file will be created. To select a different location, click Browse.

Source Language

Target Language

Select the required source and target languages. Only translation units with this language combination can be stored in this translation memory.

Enable character-based concordance search

Select this to enable character-based concordance searching.

If the this option is selected, then as well as indexing words in a translation memory, SDL Trados Studio indexes groupings of characters within a word. This can result in more partial (fuzzy) matches and bigger indexes. For example, If you enable this option and you search the translation memory for the word Resource, your search results may include Resource, Resources and Sources. The search results include all three words because they each contain groupings of characters that are the same.

You cannot change this setting once the translation memory has been created.
