Analyze Files Report Layout

The Analyze Files report provides details about the number and type of translation memory matches found for your files in the project, including 100% and fuzzy matches and non-translated items.  This report allows you to scope the time needed to translate these files. The report data is split into four parts: Summary, Settings, Totals and File Details. Each part is described below.

The data that appears in this report was generated during project creation as it is included in some of the pre-defined task sequences. You can also run the report at any time during the project life-cycle by performing the Analyze files task.

Summary

This is project level data.

Report Field

Description

Task

Describes the task that was performed to create this report.

Project

Project name.

Customer

The name and email address of the customer for which the project was created.

Translation Providers

Lists the translation memories and/or automated translation providers.

Language

The target language for which this report has been produced.

Files

The number of files in the project for which this report was run.

Created At

The date and time the report was created.

Task Duration

The length of time taken to perform the Analyze Files task.

Settings

These are the results of the verification checks run on the files.

Report Field

Description

Include Cross-file Repetitions

This shows if cross-file repetitions counts were included in the analysis process. This means that the repetition counts include segments which occur in other files being analyzed in the same task.

If this is set to No, repetition counts only include repetitions within the same file.

See Report Cross-file Repetitions for more details.

Perform Internal Fuzzy Match Analysis

This shows if internal fuzzy matches were included in the analysis process. This means it calculates the maximum additional leverage that can be obtained by the translator interactively translating the document with a translation memory.

See Report Internal Fuzzy Match Analysis for more details.

Minimum Match Score

This shows the minimum acceptable degree of similarity between the text in the source segments and the text found in the translation memory using fuzzy match search techniques. The higher the value, the more similar the terms.

Search Mode

This shows you the method used to find these matches. For example, the report takes the best match from all translation memories used.

Missing Formatting Penalty

This shows the cases where formatting is completely missing in the target segment as a percentage.

Different Formatting Penalty

This shows the cases where formatting is different in the target segment, shown as a percentage.

Multiple Translations Penalty

This shows the cases where multiple translations exist in the target segment for the same original text in the source, shown as a percentage.

Auto-Localization Penalty

This shows the cases where certain translation specifics have not been taken into account, shown as a percentage. For example, in the event that US English date rules have not been observed in a translation.

Text Replacement Penalty

This shows cases where text has been replaced that should not be translated, shown as a percentage.

Totals

Report totals for the selected language.

Report Column

Description

Total

The total number of project files for the selected language.

Type

These are translation match type categories:

  • PerfectMatch - This row displays the number and/or percentage of words, characters or segments for which a PerfectMatch was found.

  • Repetitions - This row displays the number and/or percentage of words, characters or segments that are repetitions of previously counted words.

  • Context Match - This row displays the number and/or percentage of words, characters or segments for which a context match was found in the translation memory.

  • 100% - The number and/or percentage of words, characters or segments for which a 100% translation memory match was found.

  • Fuzzy Match (95% - 99%), (85% - 94%), (75% - 84%), (50% - 74%) -  These rows display the number and/or percentage of words, characters or segments that were translated with a less than perfect (100%) translation memory match. The degree of match is indicated by the percentage figure.

  • Internal Fuzzy Match (95% - 99%), (85% - 94%), (75% - 84%), (50% - 74%) -  These rows display the additional leverage that can be obtained by the translator interactively translating the document with a translation memory. See Perform Internal Fuzzy Match Analysis for more details.

  • New - This row displays the number and/or percentage of words, characters or segments for which no match was found in the translation memory/memories.

Segments

This column displays the number of matching segments for each type of translation match.

Words

This column displays the number of matching words and numbers for each type of translation match.

Characters

This column displays the number of matching characters for each type of translation match.

Percent

This column displays the percentage of matching segments for each type of translation match.

Placeables

This column displays the number of matching placeables for each type of translation match. Placeables are untranslatable elements, such as tags, graphics, numbers and fields.

Tags

This column displays the number of matching tags for each type of translation match.

File Details

File level report data.

Report Column

Description

File

This column displays the name of the project file that is being reported on.

Type, Segments, Words, Characters, Percent, Placeables and Tags.

This is the same information as described under Totals above, but this time the figures are for each individual file.
