Saving Alignment File

After SDL Trados Studio aligns your files automatically, you can save the result of the alignment in SDLALIGN format, for later review in the Alignment view or in SDLXLIFF format, for further review and QA checks in the Editor view. To update the *.sdlalign file currently active in the Alignment view at regular intervals, click Save on the Home tab.

Saving As SDLALIGN

Save the result of the alignment as an *.sdlalign file. You can use this to review the alignment result and correct any misalignments in the Alignment view.

Save single file alignment pair

  1. Open an Alignment Result File in the Alignment view.
  2. Click the Save button in the Home tab > Tasks group and choose Save As from the drop-down menu.
  3. Browse to the location where you want to save the alignment result file and click Save.

NOTE

By default, Studio names the alignment result file [name of the source file]_[name of the target file].sdlalign.

Save Multiple Files

By default, when you align multiple files at a time, Studio automatically saves the alignment result file created for each paired source and target document as *.sdlalign files. This enables you to review them one by one in the Alignment view at a later time.

Align Multiple Files and make sure the Save alignment result files for later review option is selected on the Select Translation Memory page. Only disable this option if you want to send the alignment results directly to the translation memory (TM) without prior review.

Saving As SDLXLIFF

You can create an *.sdlxliff file from the alignment result file and save it on your computer. You can then open the *.sdlxliff file for further review in the Editor view before importing the translation units into the TM.

  1. Click the Save button in the Home tab > Tasks group and choose Save SDLXLIFF from the drop-down menu.
  2. Browse to the location where you want to save the alignment result file and click Save.

SDLXLIFF Conversion Changes

When you save the alignment result file as *.sdlxliff, Studio attaches the information about each alignment pair to the resulting segment pair. You can check this information in the Segment Status Column of the Editor view.
