How to Connect to an Automated Translation Server

This topic describes how to add a connection to an automated translation server. The automated translation server can then be used during translation. This can either be the default public SDL automated translation server, your own custom SDL automated translation server, Google Translate or Language Weaver.

To connect to an automated translation server:

default settings that are used when you create a project or open a document,	select Tools > Options from the menu bar. The Options dialog box is displayed.
settings for an active document or active project,	select Project > Project Settings > from the menu bar. The Project Settings dialog box is displayed.
settings for a project template,	select File > Setup > Project Templates from the menu bar. The Project Templates dialog box is displayed. Select the template for which you want to add a connection and click Edit. The Project Template Settings dialog box is displayed.

Select Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation from the navigation tree. The Translation Memory and Automated Translation settings are displayed in the right pane.

NOTE

You can also override the settings specified at the All Language Pairs level and specify them at an individual language pair level. You may want to do this if you want to select different automated translation servers or change the order of the automated translation servers and translation memories from what is specified at the All Language Pairs level. Click Add and select one of the following from the drop-down list:

Select SDL Automated Translation from the drop-down list to add an SDL automated translation server or a automated translation server of your own. The Add/Edit SDL Automated Translation wizard is displayed on the Connection Type page.

Select Language Weaver from the drop-down list to connect to a Language Weaver automated translation server. The Add Language Weaver wizard is displayed on the Connection Type page.

Select Google Translate from the drop-down list to connect to the Google Translate automated translation server. is added to the list.

Click OK to close the Options, Project Settings or Project Template Settings dialog boxes.

The connection to the automated translation server is added to the list on the Translation Memory and Automated Translation page. It will be included in the lookup during translation and the results will be displayed in the Translation Results window.
