How to Import AutoText Entries

This topic describes how to import AutoText entries from an *.autoTxt file. They are based on the target language. These entries can then be used in AutoSuggest. Importing entries allows you use a list created by someone else who is using the AutoSuggest feature in SDL Trados Studio. They can export the list and then you can import the file into your SDL Trados Studio version.

To add an AutoSuggest option:

  1. Select Tools > Options from the menu bar. The Options dialog box is displayed.

  2. Select AutoSuggest > AutoText from the navigation tree. The AutoText settings are displayed on the right.

  3. Select the language into which you want to import the AutoText entries from the Target Language drop-down list. This is the target language you are translating into.

  4. Click Import. The Import AutoText dialog box is displayed.

  5. Locate the *.autotxt file and click Open. The AutoText entries from the imported file are now displayed in the AutoText entries list.

  6. Click OK to save the settings and to close the Options dialog box.

In order to use the AutoText as a source for AutoSuggest, you must first select the AutoText option to enable AutoSuggest.
